What is the difference between Hanymede and Hanymede Extrait. I know there is a Ganymede and a Ganymede Extrait, but reading both descriptions it seems that both versions of Hanymede are actually different interpretations of the original Ganymede EDP, not the Extrait at all. Based on the notes it seems Hanymede was Alexandria's first attempt at interpreting the fragrance and Hanymede Extrait is an updated version of the Ganymede interpretation with more accurate notes.
Is this right, or Am I missing something? Is Hanymede Extrait actually Ganymede Extrait or is it still an interpretation of the original EDP version?
I love your products, you guys have amazing craftsmanship and products, you've always taken care of me as a customer but navigating your website and product descriptions is seriously a bad experience. I often have a hard time figuring out what the perfume nterpretation is, what is it based on, brand or designer, what's the original or if it's an original creation by Alexandria. There is a lot of information missing in your description page for your perfumes and it is painful navigating each product page to see what is the original inspiration, notes and details. It makes my shopping experience stressful and it takes me longer to find what I want to the point where many times I've given up and just not bought stuff because it's so difficult navigating and figuring out what products you have.
I hope things get better soon and your descriptions are more accurate and clear and maybe put the original inspiration in the main page so I don't have to keep opening multiple tabs just to see what perfume it is. Thank you guys.
Update, May 20, 2025: I went to The Scent Room in Dallas, TX. where they have the whole Marc-Antoine Barrois collection, among other niche brands (I often come here when I get clones or dupes to test their accuracy and closeness. From Nasomatto and Orto Parisi to Imaginary Authors, Senyokô, Etat Libre d'Orange and other weird, esoteric stuff. No Toskovat yet...)
I went with my Alexandria Henymede Extrait (Ganymede, new version), Anubis Kiss(Black Afgano), The God Father(Baraonda) and No Apologies(Pardon.) To test Alexandria against their Original.
Unfortunately, I was right. Henymede Extrait is indeed Ganymede Extrait, NOT the original EDP version. Even though on this same description page the notes breakdown and description says it's the Original Ganymede EDP, as usual Alexandria does a horrible job giving helpful information to users about their products, even the perfume notes are wrong. The Alexandria Hanymede Extrait smells nothing like the original Ganymede EDP. HOWEVER, it is a dupe of the Extrait version and they are very similar, pretty much the same, 90 to 95% similar to the Marc-Antoine Barrois Extrait. So If you are looking for the extrait version of Ganymede this Hanymede Extrait, I believe is the only offering of it from a clone house and a very good and accurate rendition. Not what I wanted or was looking for but I hope this information clears things up and help people in the future.
...And if you were curious about how Alexandria did against the original Nasomatto. All thre of them where similar, very close in smell and notes to the original just very very light. Like the Alexandrias were a "light" version of the original Nasomatto. The smell was there and it seemed to me pretty accurate but just very light. And spraying more did not intensify it. Like Alexandria could copy the smell and notes but not the "body" or robustness of the original blend. I don't know how to describe it. The scent is there just very transparent and not as "solid" or "concrete" as the original. Like they were watered-down or stale/old.
I do Like and often wearAlexandra's Nasomatto interpretations, You DO get an idea of how the original perfume is and wears. You still get it and get to date and experience the perfume for a fraction of the cost, which I love to be able to do, because I couldn't afford to otherwise, specially with these very esoteric niche brands that most clone/dupe house don't dare touch or imitate. But I hope in the future They get better at the "blend" or "Robustness" of the body and texture, not just how close to the smell you can get. They are close, just needs a little more work!
